Catch-up bookkeeping for contractors

Months behind is the most common way people find us.

However far back it goes, it is fixable, and it is a smaller job than it feels like from where you are standing. We will do one month free so you can see the work before you commit to the rest.

  • One month done free. No card.
  • However far back it goes.
  • Signed off by a US CPA.
Start with one month, free

Three questions, under a minute. No card, and no lecture.

Before you read anything else

You are not the worst set of books we have seen.

  • Nobody is going to tell you off

We start from where the file is. Months behind, duplicate entries, a chart of accounts nobody has touched since setup, receipts in a glovebox — none of it is unusual and none of it changes how the work gets done. Being behind is a scheduling problem, not a character flaw.

  • It is almost never as bad as it feels

Most catch-ups are smaller than the owner expects, because the work is mechanical rather than forensic: statements come from the bank, not from your memory. The dread is usually the largest part of the job.

  • You do not need to find everything first

The most common reason a catch-up never starts is somebody waiting until they have gathered all the paperwork. Bank and card statements are enough to begin, and we tell you what is genuinely missing rather than asking you to produce everything up front.

What you end up with

Finished books, and a record of how they got that way.

  • 01

    Every month reconciled, in order

Each period agreed to the statements and closed properly, working forward so the balances carry. Not a summary of the gap — the actual months, done.

  • 02

A chart of accounts that suits a contractor

Rebuilt if it needs it, with direct costs kept out of overhead so the finished books can answer questions about jobs rather than just satisfy a filing.

  • 03

    Payroll and subcontractors tied out

Liabilities cleared to the filings, sub payments matched against W-9s, so the gap does not turn into a second problem in January.

  • 04

A written statement of what we found

The condition the books were in when we picked them up, what was corrected, and anything still outstanding. It protects you as much as us, and your CPA will want it.

  • 05

A finished file your tax preparer can use

One handover instead of a year of questions. If a return has to be amended, they have what they need to do it.

  • 06

A US CPA’s signature on the work

Darren Lim, US CPA, reviews and signs the file. On catch-up work that matters more than usual, because somebody has to stand behind figures that are being reconstructed.

The 24-Hour Guarantee

24 hours. Or the next month is on us.

Your first month of books is delivered within 24 hours of us getting access. If we miss it, your next month is free — not a discount off it, free.

That applies to the free month. A multi-month catch-up gets its own timeline, agreed once we have seen how much there is — not guessed at before.

What happens next

Four steps. The last one is yours.

  1. 01

    Answer three questions

Under a minute on your phone. Two taps, then how to reach you. Nothing about how far behind you are.

  2. 02

    Thirty minutes on a call

We work out how many months are involved, what records exist, and what your deadlines are. This is where you get a real timeline.

  3. 03

    One month, free, to start

Whichever month is most useful to you, done in full and signed by a US CPA, so you can judge the work before committing to the rest.

  4. 04

    Then the gap, in order

Scoped on what we found, worked forward month by month, with the written statement of condition at the end.

Reconstructed books carry more judgment calls than ordinary monthly work, and somebody has to stand behind them. Every catch-up file is reviewed and signed before it reaches you or your tax preparer.

The questions you are already asking

Answered plainly.

How far behind is too far behind?
There is not a point where we stop being able to help. Multiple years is routine. The work scales with the number of months and the number of transactions in them, not with how bad it feels, and a longer gap does not make it harder to do — only longer.
I do not have all my receipts.
Almost nobody does, and it is rarely the obstacle people expect. Bank and card statements establish what was spent and when. Receipts matter for substantiating particular deductions, and we will tell you specifically which ones need backup rather than asking you to find everything.
How long will it take?
It depends on how many months and how many transactions are in them, and on how quickly access and records come through — usually the slowest part is not our end. We give you a timeline once we have seen the file, and we will not invent one before that.
My CPA is waiting. Can you work to that?
Tell us the date on the call. If it is achievable we will say so and commit to it; if it is not, we will say that too and help you work out what to file or extend in the meantime. A landing page is the wrong place to promise a deadline for a file nobody has opened.
What does the free month have to do with a catch-up?
It is how you find out whether we are any good before committing to the bigger job. We do one month in full, free — the most recent one, or whichever month matters most to you. You see the standard of the work on your own numbers, and then decide whether we do the rest.
Will this trigger anything with the IRS?
Bringing books up to date does not itself cause an audit or a notice. Filing accurately and late is a better position than not filing, and if there are unfiled returns or open notices your CPA is the right person to sequence that — we get the underlying records into a state where they can act.
What will it cost?
Catch-up work is quoted on the volume involved rather than listed, because months and transaction counts vary enormously. Ongoing monthly bookkeeping is published in full on our pricing page and is priced on transactions, not on your revenue. The free month costs nothing either way.
Can you move money out of my accounts?
No. Access is read-only, which means we can see transactions and cannot move a dollar. Where your bank offers a dedicated accountant login, we use that instead.

The gap does not close on its own.

One month of your books, done properly, costs you three questions and read-only access. A US CPA signs it, it comes back within 24 hours, and you keep it whether you carry on or not.
